BIOGRAPHY Lady V’s musical talent was unleashed during her early school years playing recorder, flute, clarinet and violin. However, her music tutor Alan Kennedy a professional saxophonist endured many months of constant nagging until he finally gave in and let her play her first notes on a saxophone. Within only a few months of playing, her natural ability and talent shone through, Lady V started flying through The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music grades, and was invited to play at the prestigious High Scores Concert at age 11. By the age of 16, Lady Victoria aka Louise Batey had achieved the highest grade – Grade 8 switching to the Guildhall Jazz Grades and achieving a Distinction. Whilst studying towards these grades, she gathered many years of experience leading brass sections and performing with pop and soul bands in venues such as the NEC Birmingham, Queen Elizabeth Hall, London and the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. In addition to these funky performances Lady V demonstrated her diversity as a saxophonist performing with Orchestras, Theatre Company’s and even the Cold Stream Guards Band. |
